Thanks to Leigh (of the fabulous TheMotorsportArchive.com) for pointing out this video of Lucas di Grassi running around Spa in the wet during a test session for Pirelli.

Di Grassi was equipped with a helmet cam that has given us what the video claims is the first driver's-eye view of a lap of the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit. I assume they're right, as I don't remember seeing a full lap from quite this perspective before.

Anyway, not only is it a fab four minutes of footage, but I found myself getting very jealous of di Grassi, who basically got to spend a day or two playing on one of the world's best tracks in the guise of testing rubber. Not bad work, if you can get it.

Pirelli - call me? Please?

Something that I have just been told... does Master Lucas crack the pitlane speed limit..?

I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention when I watched it, but I think he was on 58kph the whole time.

Also I love this quote from LdG's YouTube page:
"I had to drive with only one eye open as the camera was blocking my other eye, quite tricky."
Well....

Ha, that's even more impressive. When you re-watched the footage (I assume you did, anyway, as I did...) did you get slightly seasick?

Yeah, I would suck as a racing driver. Ten minutes in a simulator and I start feeling queasy...
