I have seen many odd races in my time, but wheely bin racing - of the horizontal variety - is a new one on me.

Apparently there's a Garbage Can World Championship (definitely not an FIA-run series, I know that much!), and around 60 oddballs gather together on an annual basis to lie on their stomachs and race downhill on bins.

This year's championship took place in Hermeskeil earlier this month, and is worth watching for the impressive vehicle you can see at the 52-second mark.

And because there's no reason not to spend a minute of your life watching people roll downhill on bins.

Excellent contraption at the 50-odd second mark. Very seventies. It was often said Schumacher could win in a wheelie bin. Now is his chance!!

Now that I would love to see! Maybe next year we can make it one of the support races for the German Grand Prix?
